JOHN W. RICHARDS, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Richards is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee with Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. He stayed one year at the College as a clinical instructor in the Vision Rehabilitation Department before joining the Navy. Dr. Richards was stationed in the Optometry Clinic of the Naval Hospital at Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Base in Cherry Point, North Carolina serving for three years as clinic director. After leaving the Navy he served at Wayne Minor Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri for two years (now the Samuel Rogers Health Center). Dr. Richards live in Liberty, Missouri, where our practice is located.

Dr. Richards is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry as a Low Vision specialist for those with irreversible vision loss. He is available for appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

ALAN G. WEGENER, O.D.

Dr. Wegener earned his optometric degree at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2012. His training sites include the Kansas City VA Medical Center, OMNI Eye Center of Kansas City, and multiple clinics in the inner city of St. Louis. Alan practices full-scope optometry including primary eye care of all ages, diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, contact lenses, and co-management of refractive and cataract surgery. He had the privilege of training under national leaders in both glaucoma and contact lens research and application.

Alan was raised in Raytown, MO, where he graduated from Raytown High School, followed by his B.A. in Chemistry from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. Alan and his wife, Emily, currently reside in Kansas City North. Their hobbies have included traveling, performing as members of the Kansas City Symphony Chorus, and raising their three sons.

Dr. Wegener holds office hours nearly every weekday.
